Feet in hot water

This morning my feet were in hot water. Literally, I had my feet soaking in hot water. Yet, growing up as children having your feet in hot water ment you were in trouble. Today as our cultures have overlapped with the global economy we have lost some of our slang or sayings. Being a writer sometimes I have to be wise with the wording I choose, because newer and younger generations might not know what it means. Even worse, I was thinking how generations might be missing out on the understatements and puns of yesterday.

Once as a child, I was trying to use the cheese slicer. My many attempts were frustrating me, so I began to scream at the top of my lungs,”grandma, I can’t cut the cheese!”
