There is a crosswalk on the military base. Daily, I am stopped there waiting for the wounded warriors to make their journey to the other side. Over time and the passage of many wounded soldiers, I have become sensitive to this path. Below I dedicate this ode to the wounded warrior’s crosswalk.
Ode to the Wounded Warrior’s Crosswalk
Crosswalk painted in purity of white
Passage of the wounded warriors day and night
Guiding the crippled, blind and mentally impaired
Giving security when no battle buddy is paired
Parting the traffic through calm and storm
Pathway always clean with strong form
Red, stop harm is near
White, go nothing to fear
A passage of safety from your old guarded life
To a new civilian life
Hallleuajh! I needed thisyou’re my savior.
